Is there any way to avoid getting the horrors after drinking? Usually if i get on it on Friday and Saturday, but don't have a drink on Sunday, I can guarantee I will wake up in the middle of the night sweating and really depressed. Then I go back to sleep and feel fine the next day. If I enjoy a bottle of wine on Sunday, then it seems to help, but I'm trying to find an alternative that doesn't involve booze. Any one else have this and knows what to do? I think I'm getting old, cause this only started happening about 2 years ago.

If I go out, it is impossible to have one or two, and if I don't have a drink I get really agitated with the whole thing. If I don't have work the next day, I will usually drink until I can't any more, or I pass out. If I do have work then a bottle of wine or a few beers will be enough. I just thought there was a way of avoiding the withdrawal horrors.
I'm sorry mate but if you realised what "the horrors" are doing to your internal organs, you really have to do something about it. Of course "the hair of the dog" on Sunday helps you but that's not the point.
You don't say how old you are. Binge drinking is a killer and I should know, I became a widow in February.

It's not harsh. There is no point to it, but i do enjoy it. I realise that I drink a bit more than others, but I don't really want to stop just yet. With making a fool of myself and black outs, I don't really forget things that I do on the drink. And I can drink quite a lot before my behaviour changes. 12-15 pints is a nice night down the pub, then a bottle of wine or some gin and tonics as a nightcap afterwards. I think it is more tiredness that makes me pass out than the booze, because sometimes I can drink til the next day. I don't see it as a drink problem, wikipedia does.
Mungbeanz, can i ask what age you are? You say you have blackouts while drinking, you say a bottle of wine or some gin and tonics as a nightcap, how much is some g&t. Somehow I don't think its the tiredness that makes you pass out rather than the alcohol, its probably to do with dehydration.
I used to be a binge drinker (friday & saturday night bottle of rum, yes thats each night), but realised about 2 and a half years ago I had to do something about. All it took was determination and now not drinking at all. Yes I still go out in the company of people who drink but it doesn't bother me and its great waking up the following morning feeling ready for the day and not the shi**y way you feel when you have been drinking.
