paedophile taxi driver. advice, what would you do ?

family member , has abused other member of my family, he is 63 years old, he has no previous convictions , he has applied for taxi licence and got it, can i do anything about this ? obviously council will say he has no convictions and they have to play by book but this is a family member and our family know what he has done in past.

what can be done ? the member who was abused does not want to speak out, she has lived with it all these years, we are all ashamed incase he does something and our family name is in the papers, i would stand by my family and go to police but she doe not want this for whatever reason. obviously i / we couldnt live with it if he touched a child or raped a girl or whatever.

what would you do ?

afaik taxi firms require their drivers to present a CRB - anything pertinent will show up there.

I often wonder how useful CRB checks are.

If anyone had done a CRB check on Harold Shipman he would have passed, being a GP and a trustworthy member of the community.

Then it turns out he had murdered about 200 people.

didnt read your comments about me trolling either, are you people sick in the f******g head or what ? really, its a serious question, as i say i would be wanting her to go to court and name him and get him convicted, our family have lived with the shame long enough but my kid sis doesnt even talk about it and doesnt want to either for her own personal reasons but i think its time he was done and we have had enough, he is manipulative and cunning b**!!**d and makes you ( or at least tries ) to make you feel sorry for him, i used to but not now !!! but the problem still lies with that i couldnt forgive myself if he done anything to another child plus the added fact of our family name .

The only way to keep this man from working with potentially vulnerable people is to get the Police involved, they will not revoke his licence on say so alone.

If the girl involved will not go to police then nothing can be done. If something happens then that girl will feel so guilty.

Hi goldenbolls - I think the troll reference is due to the number of sickos who do come on here and make things up (I think it is mostly late at night so I don't see many of them, but people come on here and say all sorts - wishing people dead (in graphic detail), etc). Unless your sister is willing to take this further there is not much you can do. I suppose you could say something to the taxi firm but there is no saying that they will take you seriously though.
