Lots of people are telling me everything happens for a reason but is fate really out to get us all no matter what we do?

Does that make sense? For example I firmly believe that some sort of disaster was going to happen to Liverpool FC fans. First there was an almight crush outside Wembley stadium at the '86 Cup Final (the first Liverpool V Everton F A Cup Final) but no-one was hurt. Then it was discovered that there was a collapsed sewer under the Kop which had left a gaping hole. Liverpool had to play all their games away for a while whilst it was rectified and made safe. Then Liverpool went to Hillsborough for a F A Cup Semi final........................................................
I dont believe fate is out to get us, I think bad things happen to all sorts of people, But I do beleive that things happen for a reason, that no matter what the event, it has some meaning . But i dont subscribe to bad things happen to bad people, i use to, I thought i was bad, but i dont anymore. I thought bad things happened, but what i found out, was i just paid more attention to the bad things, when i started looking for good things, for good coincidences, they were there. plain as day. So long as i acted from good motive.
I don't believe the future's fixed, but we certainly seem to be in phases where things happen in little bunches, or situations seem to fit together as if written in a script. New words or names will often be heard a few times and then hardly ever again. It's completely illogical but seems to happen anyway. It's been happening to many more people I know recently and could be increasing- any more examples?
I would like to think that things happen of a reason? Otherwise the bad things that have happened in my life are pointless then. Although my mum dying when I was 17.....did that happen for a reason? Very cruel reason if it was. I believe that you meet someone in order for that person to help you with what's going wrong in your life at that point...and through that person you will meet someone else that has a meaning.
I agree with butter1, some of our reasons are v harsh and I hope that this terrible sad thing is not in vain ... Who knows how this will affect you in the future, but I bet you have heaps of compassion for all sorts of things. Anyway back to the question, I do think believe that everything is for a reason. xx
