I think anything over 5 is too high but there is good cholesterol and bad cholesterol and I don't know how you differentiate.I have too much so have to take pills and with that it is usually about 5.2. If you are worried you can get it checked at the doctors or I think Lloyds or Boots will do a test for you.

That's good murraymints - wish mine was like that. I am on the full dose of statins and cannot be given any more and still over 5.

5 is the norm - I am over that but my coronary heart disease risk is otherwise within an acceptable band, so the doc is keping me off statins and trying to sort it with diet.

Starbuck....don't worry......you ate an octogenarian who has beaten the "system" with a total blood cholesterol of over 5.
Hundreds of thousands of like souls have also done it.
