different question smartie!
"Is it better to pay for 1.6 lenses OR Crizal Alize+ coating?"
look the same to me! :)
I'd get professional advice from my optician - that's why specs are pricier from the High Street than from a website. You get all the associated "niceties" etc.
I have found that better quality lenses are thinner - I ask for Zeiss with the coating which goes dark in the sunshine.

thanks................boxtops
The link was for others to see the opinions on thinner lenses for your moderate topic correction. The coating vs hi index argument is flawed without knowing if you would benefit in a cosmetic manner. Otherwise the question is "do you want a thinner lens or one with an antireflection etc. coating.
Actually, boxtops, there is no coating that is photochromic - the lens is made of material which is photochromic.
Thanks gingebee - I must admit I don't enquire too closely into the construction, I just want them to turn dark, and they do!
I'd prefer the thinner lenses and would pay extra.
I prefer Zeiss as well, pricey though but once you've had them .......
