Rent?

I was'nt sure where to post this. I've recently had my large living room put back as two as I intend renting it out. There's also a large double bedroom.both rooms are newly decorated with new furniture and new double bed etc. Bathroom and large kitchen to share with me and my son but they would have their own fridge and small freezer. Any suggestions as to how much rent I should ask? TIA.

You'd really need to look in your local paper and see what's being charged for similar shared housing arrangements in your area - the rent charged will vary widely across the country.

In Brighton & Hove it would be £100-£120 a WEEK.

Thanks for your replies all. I live in Cardiff chinadog. EDDIE51 I was thinking around £350/70. I looked on Gumtree for my area but it's self contained flats there. Im not sure if that should be inclusive of gas and leccy..help! LOL.

I wouldn't ask for a share of bills. Just put the rent up to cover it.

Morning ummm, The house shares I've seen on Gumtree are around £350-70 per month. How much would you add on for gas,leccy etc? I aint got a clue! Thanks.

Yes you should add say £20/month for utilities, don't make it too much or you will price yourself out of the market. If you ask for utilities as extra it means you may have to start chasing ex tenants for money if they leave before a bill comes in or are slow at paying.

I used to rent out my top floor...which included a living room (with a mini kitchen), bedroom and shower room. I charged £450 all inclusive.....

Ummm, would that have been seen as a bedsit? Whoever moves in will have to share our bathroom and shower and share the kitchen so that's not self contained. I've had new kitchen cupboards put in for them,cost me a fortune all this refurbishing,still they say you have to speculate to accumilate..lol.
