I was signed off work for a month with stress following a disciplinary hearing for a ridiculous facebook situation which went on for months and made me whittle and worry so much it made me ill- (the result was I got a written warning- and the matter is now closed).
However, I am due to go back to work next week and I still cant face it- this is partly because work have rang me every week so far with various issues- I still have not been able to relax at all. I am now hardly sleeping and when I do I am having nightmares and grinding my teeth- even y dentist has noticed!! I know my bp is also high and i am getting bad headaches and nausea. I know this sounds silly but I am so unused to having time off work ill I am scared to go back to the doctor as i just dont know what to say!! Please advise me- I think I am losing the plot a little and this is not like me at all :o(

The longer you stay away the harder it is going to be, is you High BP being treated or monitored? It does not sound silly at all and the actual outcomemay be a lot less fearful than you think. If you can muster up strength then return with head held high and am sure you will settle back into the old routine.

Fear is a wasted emotion - lots of luck in conquering this xxx
Another reason why facebook should be wiped from the face of the earth,
You are not ready to go back... our occupational health doctor told me you should go back a month after you think you are fit to return... I've been off twice with work related stress/burn out... first time 8months second time 5 in both cases I felt ready to return but was still anxious about it. but just a reasonable level of anxiety on the will my performance be up to scratch...what will have changed while i was away sort of thing. See you GP you need more time and maybe some counseling to help you deal with the negative feelings
You must go to your GP and tell them how you are feeling and if they think it is appropriate then they can sign you off sick for a bit longer. However I do think there is merit in what Mammy says too, the longer you leave it the harder it is to return.
What was the 'facebook situation' which caused this stress?
Stress can cause many illnesses that may seem unrelated. Stress has a massive physical impact as well as a mental impact and a lot of the time we overlook the physical. The first step to dealing with high stress levels is realizing that you are actually stressed out, as many of us out mix up the difference between every day pressure and stress. I found some helpful advice about dealing from this guide http://88976er2odjqbr...3s.hop.clickbank.net/

I hope you find some solace with it

This reinforces my view that only idiots post things about their personal life on sites such as Facebook. Stress is the new backpain. Years ago if you wanted to have a bit of time off work, you would go to the doctor and say that you had a bad back. I have been told first-hand by a GP that he could definitely say that you DID have a bad back but he couldn't say for sure that you DIDN'T. The same applies to stress. It is easy to fake and in many cases the GPs should give Oscars instead of medication.
I forgot to add that anyone who has had a lengthy time off work (or twice) due to work-related stress should ask themselves if they are in the right job.
