Once again I am requesting your advice. I have had a small sliding hiatus hernia for c. 10 years and have been advised by several GPs and two consultants to take Omeprazole and Gaviscon "By the bucketful", but no matter what I do, eat, or not eat, I still get continual wind and nausea which makes my life a misery as I cannot make arrangements to go out or have visitors. Any suggestions appreciated.

I do agree with the "bucketful" method of drug taking as so many people are taking "piddling" doses despite getting no relief.

You really have only two choices........continue the medical regime or ask for a surgical opinion for operation.

I will give this further thought
Sqad will correct me if I am wrong, I am sure. I believe that its key hole surgery so they do not need to rip you apart.....and you could be out the same day, maybe an overnighter......so the good news is that as surgery goes, it is not too bad.
I have had further thoughts......and my advice is the same.

I agree with DT, this is an option in certain units.

Both consultants advise against surgery!
Well....then they must have their reasons murph.

Why don't you ask them?
My Husband can take the Gaviscon but stopped the Omeprazole as it was that that was making him nauseous. But that was with Doctors agreement.Worth asking about though. He copes with his Hiatus Hernia as long as careful with certain foods. And lots of pillows so that he is not lying flat.

also sit bolt upright in adjustable bed. Worth thinking about omeprazole though.
