Tattoos and Cellcept drug
17 Answers
My daughter had a tattoo done on her wrist last Friday in a well known shop where we live but it has gone awfully infected, not due to the shop being dirty, but what we are wondering is, she suffers from a rare auto immune disease ( Behcet`s ) and has to take imunosuppressants everyday to stop her immune system from working, her medication is called Cellcept, we took her to our local hospital today and they told us that the tattoo has acted like a burn and the wound is rejecting the ink, as the ink is running and oozing off of her wrist, they dont think that its anything to do with her medication or illness and i would like to just get your thoughts on this if you may know. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

I am surprised her cnsultant didn't warn her against having a tattoo, but to be honest i don't know much about the illness. I have to have similar drugs and i was advised not to get one
Tomorrow will only be her 2nd appointment there, she still has a mouthful of ulcers, photophobia, headaches, so the meds are not doing any good at yet, we were told she should feel a difference after 2 weeks but its now 3 weeks and she dosnt feel as good as she was when she was on imuran. Why do you say rubbish??
Tamirra, I am interested in your comment about your daughter not feeling as well as when she was on Imuran . I too took Imuran and prednisolone for another auto immune condition and my consultant has put me on methotrexate and it took ages before I felt any benefit. Imuran helped me tremendously , perhaps the cellcept needs time to build up ? I hope your daughter gets some relief soon x
Thank you Flump so do we, she wishes she hadnt changed from Imuran too, the only reason they did change change her meds was because it wasnt helping with the Erythema nodosum but it was helping with the ulcers and they want to try to get her into full remission, which is something our local hospital ( Margate ) said that will prob never happen, luckly she has managed to claim DWP until 2013 and then reviewed then, this is because she has so much time in hospital and she also tries to support her little one. The next meds if this wont work is a self aministered injection in her stomach twice a week, but hoping it wont come to that. Bednobs, i guessed you didnt mean what i was saying, i thought you meant what the hospital said about not being able to deal with her was rubbish. x
Morning bednobs, what a tiring day it was yesterday, left here at 10am got home 10pm, she had 4 MRI`S done i have the details if your interested in what they were for? Trouble now we have to travel all the way back up there for the results, its not like ts 5 mins around the corner either, it takes a good 2 hours from where we live, i did ask if the results can be sent to our hospital but it has to be the same hospital that said she needed them done, oh well its important to find out so the journey has to be made. Do you know much about the entanercept? Hope your well. x
There are some anti-inflammatory medications you CAN take when you are pregnant, for example steroids, imuran, plaquenil. If she is going to start enbrel she needs to think about what sort of timescale she would want to get pregnant in as if you stop it and re-start it tends to be less effective the second time round. She needs to discuss with consultant. High inflammation often leads to an inability to get pregnant anywaY
I think there have been some babies born worldwide on enbrel, but the saftefy is not know so it would be a risk
