OK there are some conventional folks out there who might not see it that way but you wouldn't want to go out with someone that you couldn't be yourself with.
Question right back atcha, do you have a boyfirend / partner at the minute? If not, it might be an idea to introduce the burping gradually ...
If someone burps loudly accidentally and then apologises, that's fine. A lot of youngsters now do it intentionally and think it's funny. I find it really revolting.
If, I'm honest, I find it really offputting. I still say pardon if I burp or fart in front of my husband of 30+ years and he does the same.
I was born in 1947 too, In A Pickle. Some people might think we are 'boring old farts'!
A young lady where I work tried this once. She thought it was 'kewl' to break wind in a rest room full of people at lunch time, the louder the better.
Same went for burping, without the thought of a hand to her mouth with a polite 'excuse me'. Her closest friends tried to pass it off with 'she doens't know any better' but even if not taught at home basic manners are learned in school, even on the roughest playground.
Trying to be a ladette may look 'kewl' on TV but suffice to say not one member of the males staff asked her out for a drink in two years. I wonder why?
In short, it ain't big and it ain't clever.
Yep, it's gross Krissy! I don't know how people think their own burps and farts are funny and clever. I find bodily things funny when nobody else can do them (I enjoy watching somebody turn their eyelids inside out or perhaps dislocating theie elbow). I have been to some rather odd parties in my past.
Just joshing of course but really we can all burp and fart - what's so great if you can do it too?
It is a natural bodily function but I too think manners are important. I'm not embarrased by burping and often have a bad case after a few shandys on a friday night but I always place my hand over my mouth and I have to say pardon me or excuse me after. It's an inbuilt mannerism now and I hope that I'll lead by example to my little boy! And this is coming from a 23 year old female!
I too belch and fart rather noisily at home in front of b/friend. We both do, in fact the noisier the better - we really do have a laugh about it. In public however is another matter, i wont do either, if I did I would be horrified but would say Pardon... behind closed doors its up to you. Ive been bought up well by my parents - they too fart and sometimes they're right rip-roarers that have the whole family in fits of laughter! My parents are both 58 so when you're born has nothing to do with it! I have a good job and I know what manners are. Belching and farting is considered courteous in some countries, especially after eating a meal! So how can it be crude... now cupping a fart and putting it in someone's face... thats bad (but I laughed my head off when I saw it being done to someone!!) tee hee ... some people need to just lighten up... but you're entitled to your opinion of course!
