Tonight is taking the biscuit. The house we rent has damp in the hall way from a leaking gutter, we thought this was a new problem, but its not it yet again is a 'historical problem' (my landladies fav phrase when it comes to faults) but had just been painted over a pappered in the vain hope it wouldnt reoccur. Only know its a long standing problem having spoken to the neighbours.
A few months ago the sink pipe seperated and flooded under the sink all my husbands tools, again landlady said it was historical and to just push them back together, um no its what we pay you rent for. So plumber came and fixed it. only problem is the idot did not seal the new section of pipe to the old one properly so now have a new leak and yet more bloody damp!
Will be sitting in the estate agents office tomorrow and stamping my feet, the damps making my toddler poorly :(

oh you poor woman. I would get onto environment health and get them to send the landlady a written request to sort this damp problem out. If this doesn't work, then i would look for somewhere else to live. This cant be good for anyone's health, and its also getting you down, which is not nice for you and your family.

we cant afford to move not for at least 6 months which is the biggest bugger, if she just corrected these faults and got new blinking glazing then we would be cushty. Put clothes down in the kitchen cupboard and round the pipe to try and start the drying out process.

I agree with Bednobs. There are some really decent landlords out there (I'm lucky enough to have one). It might be a pain in the wotsits but having a dry comfortable house that is properly maintained is important.

thats about the only thing thats nice here the heating works! Been without proper heating for 5 years!

i doubt if EH will care all that much. How do you know it's making her ill - has the gp said so?

lol its a differnt properties where we have had no heating, first flat heating controlled by landlord (we were in an old Granny annex) and they 'forgot' we were upstairs. Last winter our economy seven kept being knocked off by our key metre.
She is booked in with GP this week as have noticed she gets less chesty when we stop with friends who have a lovely dry warm home. Not often the door is kept shut to allow the hall heater to dry the plaster out from the gutter being fixed.
The kitchen is one of her fav places in the house and thats where the sink is leaking.

To have a mortgage would mean you have to pay for the repairs yourself....
