Glow-Worm boiler keeps breaking down
5 Answers
My Daughters' Glow-worm Flexicom 15hx boiler broke down last Thursday.Initial diagnosis was a frozen condensate pipe, but the F4 fault kept recurring, even when the weather was mild. After a call to Glow-worm the plumber stripped and cleaned the boiler but the fault still recurs. Glow-worm say they can not understand this, and promised to phone back but didn't. They have had a week of a cold house and are desparate to get it sorted. Any suggestions?

When you say 'broke down', what do you mean by this?
Just won't light because of the F4 code shown?
Does the condensate pipe discharge outside? Has it been lagged and/or re-routed inside?
If the condensate pipe and syphon is completely clear, I'd say it could well be a PC board problem. But a PC board is (Part No 1337891) £158 plus VAT! Ask plumber to speak to Glowworm again.

Hi we have a Flexicom 18sx boiler and it is nothing but trouble. It broke down in the cold winter and left us with no heating. It broke down again last year and water leaked all over the motherboard which would have cost us €200+ only it was still under warranty. Then we got it serviced this year which cost €240. And now it has broken down again with some electrode problem that is not yet fixed and that will set us back at least €110 according to the technician. I'm thinking of getting the boiler replaced by a different make/model because I can't afford to keep getting it repaired. It is less than four years old.
