Hi all,

2 weeks ago I had tonsillitis (which is a regular thing for me), it has now developed into a very wheezy cough.Once I start coughing it's very hard to stop. Anyway, on Wednesday I had a headache on the right side of my head from the top of my head down the back of my neck. I suffer from migraines and I have taken all my migraine medication with no luck. It is like a stabbing pain on the top of my head and very tender to touch. I can hardly brush my hair. It has been constant since then and is making sleeping even more difficult than normal. I am just wondering if it is connected to my tonsillitis and cough. I can't get an appointment at my doc's so was just looking to see if anyone had any ideas.

Thanks everyone :)

Doesn't sound like a typical migraine, but headache is often associated with persistent coughing.....I would take Ibuprofen 400mgms as and when required and monitor the situation for the next couple of days.

Thanks Sqad :)
I get this quite often. Stabbing pain in head with increased sensitivity and tenderness to the scalp. Have done for years and usually when I have been under the weather with a cold or URT infection. A bit like neuralgia. It usually lasts for a while and then goes. It is not a constant pain when I have it, i.e. there is no general headache, just the stabbing pains and the tenderness.
Ditto... I think it's from the sudden head movement with sneezing and coughing... I find tension headache tablets help more than Ibuprofen and a hot waterbottle well wrapped so its just warm under the sore spot
Have definitely experienced it with ear infections too, and sometimes when I am tense and my arthritic neck is playing up.
if you are coughing maybe you should go to the doctor and get some codine to stop the cough and get him to check out the headache too.Persistant coughing is exhausting , why cant you get an appointment at the docs?
why cant you get an appointment at your doc^s ?

I have been twice to the doc. First he gave me Amoxicillin for my tonsillitus and then I went back a week later when the cough began. He gave me Codeine for my cough and I am unable to get an appointment today.
Our doc surgery is idiotic with their appointments. Apparantly there are no doctors availliable today. I am working the rest of the week so can't get to docs until Friday afternoon.

Sorry meant to add, there are Emergency Appointments but I don't really class this as an "emergency" when someone who is in dire need of the appointment could have it. I may be being a bit stupid though lol
If its anything like my doc you can pre book an appt for approx 3 weeks ahead afternoons only mornings are turn up at 0815 and hope to get seen some time before midday a nightmare if you work
Beginning to think we have a good Medical Practice where I live? There is more often than not always one doctor available to see you - probably not your own though at short notice. If not you can see a practice nurse and, if necessary, they will consult with a doctor. And doctors will always ring you back if you need some advice.
Years ago though it was all turn up and wait, sometimes for hours. It still meant taking time off work to see a doctor. If it is necessary then most employers surely will give you time off work to see a doctor. In fact I think it is part of employment law.
officially we are now supposed to make the time back which is fine if you just need to lleave 30 mins early but to lose a whole morning starts to become a major consideration
