How to get sen faster on the nhs

I have a suspected pituitary problem, saw the doctor originally 2 months ago and should have been sent for an MRI immediately but it's never even been mentioned. I asked my go and she said my endocrinologist should have organised it and the gp couldn't as I was now seeing a specialist. I have to wait another 7 weeks before I see my endocrinologist again and I know she either won't send me for one, or I'll have to wait another 3 months.

I have ALL the symptoms of a pituitary tumour which needs to be diagnosed early!

How can I speed things along (I've tried nagging but I have no way of contacting anyone other than my gp)

Where do you live? Either the name of the town, or of the relevant NHS Trust would help us to point you in the right direction.

Contact the PALS ( Patient Advice and Liaison Services) department of your local NHS Trust

Ring the specialist's secretary at the hospital and ask her to check his report of your last consultation/MRI as internal referrals are notorious for not happening! Those patients who make themselves heard most usually end up getting what they want.

If you needed an urgent MRI, then the Endocrinologist would have arranged it....as he/she didn't,then one would assume that it wasn't urgent.

Pituitary tumours are almost all non malignant and slow growing and do not need an urgent MRI.

Phone the secretary of the Endocrinologist for the update on your MRI.

If its the north east of Scotland phone them up and talk to them in your best eastern european accent......

Hormone levels (blood tests) would need doing first ideally as part of a series so a trend can be seen... before using up an MRI slot.
