Can anyone help. About 20 years ago I had an operation to remove an acoustic neuroma and it has left me with a small problem when blowing my saxophone.
The problem is that when I form my embouchure and blow the bottom eye lid closes slightly causing slight distortion of the music that I am reading. I have lived with this but find it very annoying at times and it affects my performance.
I have tried various eye creams to no affect, and the only way I have found to stop it happening is to apply surgical plaster to my cheek to pull the skin down which is OK indoors but not something I can use in public.
Difficult....this is due to a very partial damage to the facial nerve during removal of the acoustic ( I presume that it IS on the same side of the acoustic)
I would make an appt to see a plastic surgeon re botox injections or other beneficial alternatives.
I was going to suggest the same as Sqad. See a good plastic surgeon, but check them out before you have anything done. I hope they can sort this for you!
