I'm feeling really emotional and scared about the future, is this normal? I'm at the end of my university degree, where I live at the moment I cannot afford to stay, in the city in which I leave behind, that I have to go home, and say goodbye to all my friends I've made here, my routine, my security. To move home to a small country life and smaller minded people. Last night, I was out with my friends and I had to go home early, I couldnt face it. I hate change. I hate the unknown and knowing that this could be thee worst thing I ever do in my whole life. Staying here is seeing me struggle, daily, barely eating and Ive just been paid off from my part time job, which further more makes it a struggle. If I go home I wont be in this mess. Its got me panicing about the future, life, everything. Goodbye hurts and Im so scared for the future ahead of me.

My daughter had to come home after uni, she managed eventually to get a good job and living at home enabled her to save a deposit for a house. I don't get the problem, you've only been in that environment for 3 years or so.
Don't panic, spots - I remember your post where you only had £8 to last the fortnight, you must be at the end of that fortnight now? Yours is not an unusual situations - my niece has been in the same position, she had to go home after uni while she was looking for work. It's not forever - you'll find something, then you you can work your way back up to a job you like, perhaps in the city you've come to call home. It's not shameful to say you need to go home until you have some money coming in - these says I'd say it's more of the norm.
Make sure you stay in touch with your uni friends, see them when you can - if anyone's staying in the same city, they can look out for work for you. Don't be overpicky in the early days about what work you do - sadly, plenty of people with degrees these days are working wherever they can, not in what they'd really like to be doing. A job is hard to find - if one is offered to you in the current climate, do take it. Good luck to you - and i bet you won't be the only one in your year who's in the same situation.
Nicely put Boxy. Good luck Spots, you'll be able to speak to your friends on FB twittter etc and you won't feel as far away as you might think.

Have you started to look for work yet? What type of job do you hope for?
Don't take offence Spots, the choice is plain to see, stop where you are & go into debt or go home to people that will help you, For to many young people debt is easy, getting out of it is something else. Good Luck.

boxtops that makes perfect sense. :) I'm happier now, I guess I just needed to take it in. I guess I will need to maintain effort with my friends in the city :) Thanks your advice really helped me see things differently. Sometimes it helps me to have a strangers point of view on the current situation to help you see the bigger picture :P Thanks :) x
