Age of menopause

Just watching loose women and a viewer said she started menopause at 37

Im actually freaked out at the thought of my being menopausal in 12y!!!!!!!!!

She was rather young - usual age 50ish !

I worked with a lady who had had a 2 year old child, then hit the menopause at the age of 28............to complete her family she had to adopt.

A friend of mine had an early menopause too - she was just 40. I think early ones are rare though.

It is more common than you'd think - it's known as early onset menopause I think. watched a doc once about a girl who started ar 23. I started mine at 47.

I was 42, and was convinced I was pregnant, as everything just stopped. Would have been an immaculate conception though.

depends what you mean by menopause. The word actually means the ending of periods and so starts when you have your last bleed. perimenopause, when all the fun kicks off can start a lot earlier and still be normal, mine started when I was aged about 45...looking back, it might even have been a year or so earlier than that, 45 was when the problems got annoying enough to notice. I do think that now it has been discussed more and we are more savvy, that people notice it earlier and want to do something about it earlier.

i think your menopause age may be similar to your mother/sisters.

It's worth knowing your mother's experience. Mine followed hers to the letter, started periodicals at 12, menopause at 42. Weirdly though my early/mid thirties were my 'fertile' years, 3 pregnancies one after the other, including a set of twins. One would have imagined my fertility would have been in decline by then.

You can also be quite late with the menopause. A friend of mine was still
getting her periods in her early sixties!

I was 35 but it wasn't a 'natural' menopause....luckily I'd already had two sons.

I am 43 and have been having very irregular periods for a few years now, my last one was April 2011.

I suddenly feel very under pressure LOL cos i just blinked and im nealy 25..... I know ill just blink and be 40!!! X
