Sadly, Johnson's baby cream is no longer cutting the mustard and the skin on my face is really quite dry. Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful moisturiser that's not too heavy or oily (I don't wear make up and never put soap on my face). Thanks from a 42 year old who is suddenly realising that she is not a teenager anymore!

Hi Buenchico - thanks for the link (know where Aldi is, go there so often they give the kids free chocolate!). Park there to get to town (usually has spaces and I am rubbish at parking (plus the car is too big for me) and they sell cheap cider which is lovely.
M&S do a light Day cream with Vit E for about £4. Excellent.

Oh no - now I have got to make some sort of decision, will go to town on Thursday and have a look around (well, for as long as thing 1 and thing 2 can stand it).
Aldi's face cream is really good sher, I have used it!........worth the money!........
I`ve worn clinique dramatially different moisuriser for 15 years. I`ve tried numerous other brands but I always go back to that. I like to feel a moisuriser on my face because I think that if you put something on your face and it disappears and you can`t feel it that`s because it is just water and it evaporates off. I`m still searching for the definitive night cream though.
Seriously though...I use ALDI's 'Shimmering Day Cream'....very light,non-greasy,smells of peaches, and leaves a soft glow. I have sensitive skin-and have never had any problems using this....and it is only £1.99.
Oh-and it had rave reviews when it came out.
I use the facecreams from Lidl and find them excellent. About £3.00 per pot. Ulay brings me out in a rash. Aldi creams likewise have good reviews.
Aldi still do that one in the first link as far as I know, I'm pretty sure I had a pot a couple of months ago. I like nivea and it was on offer in tescos not long ago, (half price for face wash and cream).
Hello Pasta, you weren't there when I started my post. I still have quite greasy skin, especially around the nose. But the benefit is that you don't get so many wrinkles :o)
Sherrard I have been using Nivea (the lotion in the bottle not the greasy creme in the flat tin) for 50 years now. I have tried expensive ones, but nothing is as good as Nivea.
Yes, lottie is quite right. She is lucky to have naturally oily skin. Whatever you use, keep it up - you will find the benefit as you get older. I have always put cream on my face and although I have wrinkles (after all, I would be odd if I didn't at 84) my facial skin is far better than many others of the same age group. My sister in law is far, far worse than mine and she is 7 years younger. Keep going - you won't regret it.
Reading this with intrest, how come us blokes can go our entire lives with no type of cosmetic ever ? Is it something to do with hormones?
I would estimate that 98% of men have never used any type of cosmetic.
The only time I used make up was when I used stage make up , I used to be a keen on amateur dramatics in my youth .
Use Clinique Seven Day scrub once a week.........then moisturise........you can tell the difference straight away.
men just age more gracefully, Eddie

Joanna Lumley always recommends Astral cream - it's only about 1.50 :)
jno, I still look more like the first picture but with white hair ;-) It used to be dark brown ! LOL
By the way i have heard that Pile cream ' Anusol ' is very good for getting rd of winkles , gives you a face like a babys bottom !
I use E45 cream, you can get a great big jar of it for £10 and it last ages. It keeps my skin moisterised and soft.
Nivea has always been high on the list of The Best face creams over the years, also try Boots Age Delay.
Drink more water...............
