How long do referrals take?

So in relation to my eye lump I have to go back next week and if it's still the same doc said I would need to be referred to plastics because it's too close to my eye for them to do and without making a hash of it and end up looking worse. Any idea how soon it would be carried out? I'm guessing it's a very simple, minor procedure but that would they actually do?

I think it's a postcode lottery. When my daughter was referred for an eye op it took 6 weeks.

From start of referral to treatment is supposed to take 18 weeks.

I should probably add then, this was about 12 years ago.

Blimey, I thought 6 weeks was long enough but 18! I know it's hardly life threatening but it's a right pain in the arse (well, eye). Even the doc said it looked weird.

I have a choice of two hospitals, I wonder if the wait would be shorter in either one of them.

Oh, that's good. That says 24 and 25 days in average to see a specialist for my two hospitals. I could live with that.

Have no idea what the procedure would be. Visions of white robed nurse carrying tray covered by white cloth walking in front of a small bottle of water on a trolley followed by grave looking elderly gentleman also dressed in white desperately trying to don a pair of latex gloves. Minions trailing behind carrying mask, headgear and plastic shoe coverings.
