Having done the http://www.whoshouldyouvotefor.com/ quiz and been really impressed it suddenly struck me that in the future we could all vote like that! You could go online with a special password and pin number, and just vote on particular issues using multiple choice. That way the nation would decide what we should do about individual issues, rather than having to vote for one confusing political party. The government could easily see what the country's views are, and respond accordingly. If there was a question you didn't understand, you could right click on it, and get the various parties' explanations of it, so you could hear balanced arguments before voting.

I don't thinkI agree based on that site. It came out the I should vote green party, to be honest they would be one of the last parties getting my vote.

I guess as much as we'd like to think we vote on the issues and not on the personalities, we are in a round about way voting for a personality who is going to run the country.

Not all issues can be foreseen in a parties manifesto and so you have to make a judgment call on how much trust you'd place in a particular politician - otherwise you'd need a referendum every time an issue came up that wasn't covered by a manifesto

An online vote would not give a fair representation of the country's views as the majority of people in this country have no pc or access to the internet so you would, in effect, be discriminating against these people.

it said i should vote l.d. which i did so i guess its pretty good. not probably the best way to vote mind. internet would probably be more at risk from fraud

It's not so much the internet aspect, but voting on individual issues rather than one party. Like when they do a telephone/text poll on the TV.
