Which is the best hair clippers to buy for home use?

I am not quite sure if this is the right area for this question but need to ask it anyway. Can any of you ABers recommend a brand of electric hair clippers for me as I have just managed to burn mine out? I was cutting my hair the other day and they just stopped. I was hoping that it was just the thermal cut-out cutting out but it was not. They are done for, I am sorry to say.

Would I have to buy proper hair stylists clippers or can you get a decent brand for home use? I would like some that do not break down after 5 minutes which the last lot seemed to do.

If it's for cutting your own hair - the Philips Cut-your-own hair Pro takes some beating.

I've been using a set of these

for at least 15 years, stiil going strong and have never needed any maintenance apart from cleaning and a spot of oil.

Thanks for that D97. Those look lovely but did I not mention I did not want to take out a second mortgage to buy the clippers?

I do need something cheap as on a low wage at the moment.

I have a set by Babyliss which are working OK so far. Most hairdressers I have been in have equipment by Wahl so I would assume that this is the best.

Aldi do a perfectly function clipper set - but you might get quite shaggy waiting for them to come round again in the weekly specials list :)

Usually the best time to buy is before Christmas or Fathers Day because these are usually half-price or less. Unfortunately, if they're made down to a price, they won't last very long.

It took me a while to find the best Hair Clippers for my hair as it's quite thick, I finally bought the Babyliss 7475U Hair Clippers, reason being the reviews were really good and they had strong blades and various guard size options.
