Hi!  This might sound stupid but can anyone be allergic to their pacemaker?  I've looked on the internet and can't find an answer!

Not a stupid question. [edited by AB ED]

*Princess* - I'll report your question, so that the AB Ed can transfer it to the correct category.

In theory, the human body can be allergic to anything including itself so in theory the answer is yes, although I would imagine that it would be quite rare. What are the symptoms?

I have posted an answer even though this is in the wrong section because this might be quite urgent. If you or someone you know is having trouble with a pacemaker, go back to the doctor IMMEDIATELY!!

I'm sorry Potatoman I didn't realise I'd put it in the wrong section :o( I'm new to this website!  Thanks for reporting it to be moved Smudge, I wouldn't know how to do that!

Woofgang, thanks for the answer!  I looked on the internet and couldn't find it!  It's for my Grandma, she's seeing the doctor on Tues, but I just wanted to reassure her, or at least try to!  I mean she's had is about 4-5 years so if she was allergic to it, surely it would have shown up by now!

Anyway thanks for all your answer and once again I'm sorry for putting in the wrong category!

if she's had it that long its very unlikely to be an allergy. It seems that you have things under control. Welcome to the site!!
