Starfish

Went to Southerndown beach today (South Wales) and nearly all of the rock pools had a live starfish in them. We found about 15 in the rock pools closest to us. Anyone any idea why they suddenly showed up? I googled it and there was a news story about dead starfish being washed up in North Wales yesterday but that's all I could find.

Perhaps because of the warm weather?

Been there lots of times before and never found one, only ever seen one along the South Wales coast when I was a child. The rock pools were only in a radius of about 15 paces so the beach must have been teeming with them.

I think they come into shallow water for mating.
