Do you dream about your exes?

I regularly dream about an ex partner who left me about 12 years ago which ripped me apart. I find it quite distressing that I still dream about him a lot and re-experience the pain. Last night I had a vivid dream that I went to his wedding. His parents and brothers were in it and his bride came and introduced herself . I can picture her face though it's no-one I know. In the dream I felt desperately hurt and it's been playing on my mind all day. Anyone else do this? It suggests I haven't mentally dealt with it yet.

Yes, quite often strangely. And more than one.
I dream of revenge if that's what you mean.
My ex wife - no, not usually but there has been the occasional very erotic flash-back should we say.

An old gf - yes, as we occasionally see each other
Don't need to dream. I am still friends with ,meet, and talk on the phone to, both of the ex-Mrs Pulis. But dreaming about them as well would be too much!

It must be distressing for you,Prudie. It does sound as though you haven't dealt with, come to terms with, it all yet. It's almost like a long bereavement when it takes ages to realize that the person is not there.
Never.
About 2 nights ago I dreamt about my recent ex and his teeth were falling out in front of me. It was gross. Not sure what it means but I don't want to dream it again! lol

I have dreamt about other exes in the past and they do tend to stay with me too.

That must have been awful V&C, that's the kind of dream I'm talking about. This guy pops in almost weekly even though I've been very happy with someone else for over 11 years. I seriously think I need therapy.
i have mares about my ex
I wouldn't say that, Prudie, but then I don't know you....just because you harbour some residual thoughts, warm ones, is nothing to be ashamed of or concerned over......after all, don't they say that it should be about 80% plus favourable and 20 negative?

I would put it another way, if you didn't have the occasional flashback or memory then you could be considered as really cold-hearted......
I had a dream about a fortnight ago in which (for some unclear reason) I decided to leave my present relationship (22 years) and take up with an ex of 26 years ago!!!

The prospect of breaking Mrs JtH's heart, giving up my home, explaining to my parents, etc., gave me (in my dream) a real hollow, stomach-churning sensation......and that stayed with me for several hours after I woke up.

And in all honesty my ex wouldn't have even made a good pet!! :o/

Trouble is they're not warm DT, I'm feeling the same powerful pain in the dream that I felt in reality. He's always either in process of breaking up or already moved on, it's horrible and I can't confide in partner about it either, obviously.

That's the thing 2sp, I'm now in the best well rounded relationship I've ever had and talking of pets jack this guy was the same. My mother called him the Incubus!
Perhaps it is the dark side of your brain just telling you about the risks of potential "physcial and emotional costs" of getting it wrong with your current....
We split in 1994 and I re-live it weekly and still remember things that were screaming at me saying "He having an affair"

tough isn't it arwyn - at least you seem to want revenge? I haven't even got to the being angry with him stage!
I have 2 exe wives, I dont think I have ever dreamt about either of them actually.
I dreamt about my late husband last month. I just saw his face in profile, quite close to me and he said, "I miss you". It made me feel quietly happy, if you see what I mean.
prudie there's things I've never told a soul and it still keeps me awake at night. I cant tell people now because its so bizarre that know one would ever believe me. At the time I never knew and when I did it was a few years later and to late to be believed. People would go to jail if I could ever prove it. Not him he died, but her and her mate.
chrissa that's really lovely for you.
