My nan was hospitalised recently following a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, a UTI and a chest infection. Today, following a full body CT scan, she was diagnosed with cancer. It's a large tumour lying between the uterus and the bowels, and they are unsure at this stage which one it stems from. They have said that it hasn't spread but but they didn't seem very upbeat when they gave the diagnosis.

Try to keep upbeat, logical, strong and make them keep all options open, then take each piece of news one at a time, get your Nan's feedback and make sure her wishes are carried out if your Mum is feeling a bit confused. I am so sorry and sending you all good wishes and hopes for a good outcome.
Thank you all for your kind wishes. I saw her this afternoon and will be popping back this evening. My mum's eldest sister turned up and wanted to know what my nan was going to do with all the money if she sells her house. I really had to bite my tongue.
Nan told me that if the cancer is a death warrant, she just wants it all over. :-(

NOM.. thinking of you... really sad to hear this and hope they can get her through the current acute illness and you can have a bit more quality time... maybe with a little oral chemo that isn't too fierce... but if she really wants to go down the no treatment route I am sure you will support her decision and do what you can to ensure her last days are as good as possible
