Dodgy phone-call....
10 Answers
I have just had a phonecall from uk finance services did'nt catch their name. The man knew my name, address, birthday and the 1st 4 digits of my bank card.He wanted me to read out the rest of the numbers of course i said no.He then said that he knew the numbers he just wanted to verify i was who he said i was for security. He said because i was owed money from my mortgage.I have had ,like everyone else loads of dodgy calls but this one was very convincing especially when he knew so much. But i did't give him any more information.I was quite shaken. He just knew too much for my liking,so I phoned my bank and they reassured me that the caller was just fishing and I had nothing to worry about.Has anyone had this kind of call that claims to know this much infomation about you?

It did seem strange though as some of the things he knew must have come from the bank, ie my name, mobile number and that I was a Santander customer. He was rather rude as well, especially when I told him I wasn't interested.
This one was raising his voice to me saying he already knew the numbers.I do not know why I even stayed on long enough to listen to him in the first place because I have a number verifying telephone and don't normally answer (International, unavailable or witheld numbers anyway) .I definitely won't be answering any more.
I have an answerphone, so I vet all calls. As soon as dodgy calls realise it's
an answerphone the caller hangs up.....they don't want to spend money, on
leaving a message.
Genuine people leave a message....I can still decide whether to pick-up when I
hear who it is.
Friends know my routine....I don't pick-up until I hear who it is.
