I have always understood teleworking to be when you work at home while communicating with the office by computor or phone etc

From my experience of setting these things up, it can, as been said by toecrusher, a total emulation of one's office at work.

The most normal setup with technology when I was setting these things up (several years ago) was to be able to do everthing I could do at the office from home. Absolutely no difference in terms of IT - the only difference being that you were in your own home.

Done with a broadband connection, and use of the 'phone system at work. You could do everything at home on a PC or laptop and your home 'phone or a seperate line could be setup to be just as it was your extension in the office.

I am not just talking about reading/sending Emails etc. I could connect to the company LAN (Local Area Network), pick up documents from the servers, manage the UK network with various tools I used in the Office I.e. total functionality.

Hope that helps.
