Visceral Buzzing?

Sleep paralysis is something I have been afflicted with on and off throughout my life but recent attacks have included a frightening "vibrating" sensation and I felt something was trying to pin me down and hurt me. The feeling only subsided when I stopped fighting and allowed my body to relax and let the feeling pass over.

A quick Google brought up "Visceral buzzing" which can be associated with sleep paralysis.

Does anyone have experience of this?

Hey Ummmm. Xx

What do you do when you get SP ?
I suffer from sleep paralysis too. I once had an unfortunate episode when I was convinced that a UFO was trying to land on the roof - it was all buzzy and I felt off balance as if I had vertigo.

It might not have been the same thing - I have has some episodes of normal hallucinating too. If hallucinating can ever be normal.

I hope that it settles - but as you know it is usually stress related.

That's funny...apparently there is a trend in SP occurrences that are linked to UFO hallucinations.

I have variously hallucinated during SP but never about UFOs. I have had vertigo though, and the feeling that something was trying to invade me or hurt me.

It's such a relief when the feeling washes over but it does leave me with a fear of falling back asleep.
Ive had it once where i couldnt move once...i hope never again....

Try to get out of the being scared to sleep thing if you can before it gets really bad, like me..now!!

Xxxxx
really intersting topic - sorry if I'm butting in here as don't come on a lot - want to ask - how is this different from (what I consider) normal dream/nightmare experiences?

Who knows, rsvp?

I am not that prone to dreaming, etc.

When I have attacks of SP, and the more recent phenomenon of visceral buzzing, I am not sure whether I am asleep or awake.
think you need to look at the stress levels that you have been under, NoM.

I know you will wince, but a trip to the quack's for a thorough MOT physically and internally may just help you re any "complications" down the line - and a decent break away so as to relax you............

DT...I wish I had a bolthole. X
Only had it once. Absolutely terrifying. Could only focus on the moon, curtains open. Convinced myself to close my eyes, would either die or wake normally. Luckily woke.
I didn't do anything as I didn't know what it was.

Mine was the same dream every time. I could hear someone slowly walking down the hall towards my bedroom. Very sinister, like a scary film. I try and move but I can't. They come into my bedroom and sit on my bed. I can actually feel the bed move and I'm desperately trying to move, but nothing happens.

Up until a few months ago it's always happened when I've been on my own. It happened recently and Ginge woke me up saying I was shaking my head and trying to scream.
My experience of SP has been like Ummm's, with the sense of something harmful and evil crossing the room towards me and I'm unable to move. Quite often I see a shadowy human figure. I am totally unable to move. But I usually wake up before it gets to me.

I've never experienced the visceral buzzing, though, and I suspect it is to do with you being under unusual stress, so maybe trying some sort of relaxation/meditation class might help.

I've heard that the being pinned down sensation is very common and is one of the origins of the term Night Mare, a hag-like figure that sits on top of the sufferer. Here's an interesting link I was looking at a couple of weeks back with some explanations and suggestions.

Hope it stops soon. There's nothing worse than disrupted sleep. x
Ive heard of this but never experienced it thankfully. Ive just looked for it on you tube and found this, it is actually a little disturbing but quite problem for some sufferers. Dont watch it if you think it may disturb you.

Ratter....That's what Ginge said I was doing. Trying to talk but no proper words coming out.

I do think it's stress related. It started when my Dad was ill. After he died it was happening every couple of days. Then it stopped.

I've had just the one since...and he managed to wake me up.
I've had SP very occasionally (not related to stress or anything else as far as I could see) but no particular dreams or vibrating, just being unable to move. I've usually been able to jiggle and grunt just enough to get my OH's elbow in the ribs, which seems to be the best way out of it.
yikes dt how will an full internal mot help stress levels???
Ive had SP in the same way as ummm, I have also had exploding head syndrome which was also quite unpleasant. all stress related.
<googles exploding head syndrome>

Yikes! Never had that one, thank goodness.
Had the exploding head mine is always a scream
