My leg has gone strange

Over the course of the day, my left leg has swollen considerably, from just above the knee right down to the foot. It is not hot, not painful and not discoloured. It feels tight and looks odd.
Any thoughts?

Don`t worry. It`s hopefully nothing. Maybe some kind of lymphatic drainage problem. Best get it checked out though.

It might be a Baker's cyst that's leaking/burst. I once had that happen, so I suggest that you look it up and see if that might be it. If so, it's not serious, it just needs rest.

Could it be Cellulitis Mrs O? My Mum had that last year, you need to get it checked asap though, if it is cellulitis they will give you medication to take the swelling down. Thinking of you x

NHS Direct will ask you to attend your Out of Hours centre tonight with those symptoms. You could leave it till the morning, but it could be just as busy then and if you have a DVT and a piece of the clot breaks off tonight it could move to your lungs and cause a potentially fatal embolism there. If you are overweight, a smoker, using oestrogens or have had a DVT before you are at increased risk. Hope you're feeling better soon and please let us know how you get on.

Yes hope you are ok Mrs O - you poor thing, I bet you've had to sit for hours in A&E especially on a Friday evening, I don't envy you :( Please let us know how you are as soon as you are able, as we are all concerned about you. x
