does anyone know how much roughly this operation would cost? My husband had a wisdom tooth out privately and that cost about 1000! I have absolutely no idea and they don't mention prices on websites!

I've no idea as to the cost but have you been seen at an ENT clinic for your problem?  In most cases these days the waiting time for tonsillectomy is no longer than 6 months.

Have a chat with your GP before parting with your cash.

I've just had a tonsillectomy privately and it cost about 1600. It was fine, went very smoothly, and I would do it again in a flash.

ooh, sassyj - i'm so jealous! I wonder if you'd mind me asking how come you went private, and why you needed it?

So you'd say it was worth the money then?

Did they take the adenoids too?

It's cheaper abroad usually, my husband went to Belgium for a shoulder op as it was half the price of an English hospital  and they have no mrsa.   They also let family etc stay at the hospital on a B&B basis in rooms on the top floor.  Used a company called Euro-meds were or are based in NE England.  Al staff except cleaners spoke excellent English
