My friend's daughter has just been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. However, my friend is now convinced that SHE has it. She is so obsessed about it that I feel she is worrying more about herslef than she is her daughter.

I honestly think there is nothing wrong with her. Can adults have tests for this, and is it rude of me to suggest it?

It is highly unlikely your friend has Aspergers as the sufferer find it almost impossible to recognize their own symptoms. In fact it is extremely difficult for professionals to diagnose as it occurs in different degrees and is relatively rare. Basically Aspergers is an inability to recognise emotional needs of others and they will often react inapproprately to a situation, ie. laughing during a sad film scene. Has your friend's daughter recieved a lot of attention since the diagnosis? If so it could be that she feels "left out'  Plent of information about Aspergers on the net. Good luck  Judy
