help!!! wilkinson's deep tan mousse gone wrong!!!!

Please help us, last night before we went to bed we tried wilkinson's deep tan mousse on my wife, we exfoliated first, then moisturised, and this morning we woke up to a nightmare!! Its dead patchy, streaky, a bit orange, its on the her knuckles, elbows and knees and we really need to wash it off. Does anyone know how to wash it off using household substances??? We tried washing powder and grapefruit juice straight from the fruit without any effect. Please help, as she is really upset now.

never tried it but i heard that if you mix sharp lemon juice or something like plj with the same amount of baking soda and sugar and use a rough sponge (i suppose a flannel would have the same effect) on the areas, it can tone down the orangeness.

Is there some way listed on the container of contacting the manufacturer? They may be able to help when things go wrong

St Tropex fake tan do a corrective lotion, this would probably work as most tans are made of the same kind of stuff.  I'm sure I've seen it in Debenhams but you may be able to get it in Boots etc.  Hope this helps, I know how she feels, I used Domestos, it worked but probably not very good for you.

Ok ..... apart from proprietry "correction" creams etc., what I've also read about - but admittedly never used myself - are all varaiations on abrasive mixtures.

Household salt, or sugar, mixed with olive oil or baby oil, then applied & rubbed, is supposed to help remove the top layer of skin - and it's cheap - and it should exfoliate nicely. Have also heard of toothpaste being used to tone down fake tan, though guess you'd need a lot of that. Likewise, you could try oatmeal mixed with oil.

I certainly wouldn't use domestos - ouch !!

For future use, if you want a not too expensive fake tan, I'd try Boots' Soltan range, or the Tesco own brand range. Not for nothing is Wilko's known as cheap & cheerful - they're great for household basics but I wouldn't trust them to look after my body !

I once used sea salt and baby oil, scrub it on dry and rubbed with a flannel ( very hard ) It worked.

Try normal washing up liquid, believe it or not. I learnt this the hard way, although I hadn't used Wilkinson's fake tan. Let us know how you get on!
