Inflammation, things like hepatitis, I copied the following from webmd

Causes of an Enlarged Liver

An enlarged liver may occur as a result of one or more of these causes.

Inflammation or fatty liver may cause an enlarged liver and may result from:

An infection such as a from a virus or abscess
Certain medications
Toxins
Certain types of hepatitis, including alcoholic hepatitis
Autoimmune disease
Metabolic syndrome
Genetic disorders that cause fat, protein, or other substances to build up

Abnormal growths may cause an enlarged liver. This may result from:

Cysts
Tumors that start or spread to the liver

A problem with blood flow can cause the liver to enlarge. This may be due to a variety of conditions such as:

Congestive heart failure, a condition where the heart fails to pump blood well
Hepatic vein thrombosis, a blockage of veins in the liver
Veno-occlusive disease, a blockage of small veins in the liver

As you know your own medical history something may leap out as more likely.
rowan....bloody hell....that will cheer her up....was that necessary?
Oh dear Rowan....

Kate, seems I am to blame and a few on the bandwagon too - shall we go teetotal at the club then?? I always have my hip flask in my pinny pocket.
doesn't matter how much you drink believe me.i have only half my liver left due to a tumour.it had to be removed.when in hospital i seen many people with alchoholic liver disease.some didn't drink too much.if you're liver is enlarged then i'm afraid you have serious problems.
Oh! my God.
Fatty liver maybe? My mum went for a fatty liver ultrasound (due to her diet probably as she`s never been a drinker either and hasn`t travelled around the world to places where she has a high risk of hepatitis). The scan was very detailed and she had absolutely nothing to worry about. I would wait for the results before you start to investigate.
Question Author
right ,had the ultrasound and they said it was only slightly enlarged, nothing to worry about but might be due to my overweight
I rest my case (only joking) Glad it`s nothing serious
slinky........good news.........I don't know who is is more relieved....you or me.
Very good news that is slinky.
And mamya keep the tailcocks coming lol.
Just finished reading this thread and had to have a little chuckle because sqad just helped me with a problem with my daughter's health. I googled it and frightened myself to death nearly. He reassured me while telling me what it was likely to be. Perhaps we shouldn't google health problems.
He has a lovely bed-side manner.
Oh yes Star, do tell us more !
Star, I was really ill once (sent for all sorts of tests, saw lots of different docs in a sort space of time), actually caught one of them using Wikipedia to try to find out what was wrong with me.
Question Author
i wonder if this has anything to do with a blood test i got taken a few months ago,i had an ESR of 87 which was quite high,it is still a bit on the high side but not as much.
