My father has been given a prescription in England, (free as he's OAP), with consultant instructions not to hand it in unless he really needs the medicine. As he is going on holiday to Wales, and I know they do it differently, would he still be able to hand over an English prescription to a Welsh pharmacy?

i don't know the answer but what medicine is it? it seems really strange that someone would write a prescription then tell someone not to take it - if they need it they need it!
is it that it's really expensive or something? Personally i would be inclined to fill it anyway before the holiday

I know, I said to my Dad 'just hand it in before you go', but no, the consultant said not to, so he won't!!
I live on the Welsh borders and my GP is in England but I often collect prescriptions in Wales.

The only difference I am aware of is that prescriptions are free if given by a Welsh GP, but I have to pay (from England). This wouldnt apply to your father if his are free anyway so there shouldn't be a problem.
perhaps it has a very short life so should only be obtained when needed. What medicine is it?
