I've been fermenting a vat of homemade(ish) cherry brandy under the kitchen sink for a couple of months. Decanted it this afternoon. Appears to be quite potent.

I've done raspberry vodka, plum brandy, sloe gin and blackcurrant vodka before. Any other suggestions?

Yes.

Gimme some :-)
It is not generally known that I have an exceptionally honed palate and I am much in demand as a taster of all things alcoholic.

lol!

If you don't like it, I'm sure it will give your drains a good clean.
So you macerated cherries with brandy and sugar? What a fab idea. Have done it with sloes and gin, but never thought of these other options. Raspberry vodka...yum. I would go with blackberry vodka next. (blackberries should be ripening in a month or so).

I did think about bramble gin?
This might sound odd, but chilli vodka is fab.
Just bung a few chillis in the bottle, leave for at least a month and voila!
What about rhubarb gin/vodka?

Might give those both a go, Mrs O and firewatch!
How did you get brandy to ferment ? I often make cherry brandy ( using Morellos, of course, not sweet cherries) but it has never fermented. If it did, the jar would explode.

I was using a bit of poetic licence, atalanta. It's just been sitting in a jar!
Oh the vodkas sound nice! How do you do it? Just bung some fruit in and leave it? Lol!

Basically, erin!

Just bung equal measures of sugar and fruit in an old glass sweetie jar and top it up with booze. Leave to stew until the sugar disappears, giving it a shake every day or so.

I make a few different types, and dish out bottles at Christmas. Always seems to go down well, but I don't know if folk are just being polite!
I always do sloe gin but this year I'm going to try blackberry brandy. Think it needs decent brandy though (ie not the undrinkable cheap paintstripper I brought back from Spain!!)
What size of jar do you usually use? I'm definitely giving this a go!

I tend to buy the cheapest booze, Prudie. But since they changed the way alcohol is priced here it's not as cheap as it used to be!

I use an old Quality Street glass jar, Erin.
I use the old fashioned Kilner jars with the orange rubber seals.
