I had that very bad cold and cough that was doing the rounds in May and lost my sense of smell and of course taste. Then I was hospitalized with my dicky foot and was on serious antibiotics for 4 weeks (vankamycin thro' a PICC) and then 17 days on doxycillin. Someone said that the senses would come back after the antib's were out of my system. Nothing has happened yet. Anyone know of a good remedy. It is a good job I don't chef anymore for a living! I joke about it but it is beginning to get me down. I make stuff at home but when I eat I have to remember what it should taste like. Any ideas welcomed.

The return of your sense of smell and taste is in the "lap of the Gods"...it might or might not ever come back.

What would I do? Go to the GP and ask if he would consider giving you a steroid nasal spray e.g Flixonase.

That is your best shot.
