oily skin
12 Answers
hi. i was wondering if any abers have any advice on how to deal with very oily skin. mine is so bad that even 1/2 hour after applying make up (oil free and mattifying stuff), my skin is so oily i basically start wiping the oil away along with my make up. i have tried loads of brands of skin care (clinique, simple, garnier, cleanand clear, liz earle, dermalogica, boots stuff and many more). i would appreciate any advice....and my skin is also sensitive and dries out /reacts to perfume and chemicals. i am currently nursing dried red skin around my t-zone from the dermalogica stuff i bought (a starter pack for £25). any sort of beauty regime/tips and tricks would be gratefully recieved.....i really am at the end of my tether. mtia....x

Finally, the lady on the Clarins counter did a skin type analysis (lasting about 1530 minutes -lots of questions about skincare routine, how long it took to get oily, how oily it got, the way it reacted to sun & wind etc). She said I had normal skin that was irritated by my current routine. There was no hard sell - she gave me some samples products, but also gave me advice on how to change my routine whatever products I ended up using. I stopped using products for oily skin and changed to those for normal or sensitive skin and ditched face scrubs, facemasks and exfoliators and noticed the difference almost straight away. I know this won't work in every case, but for the sake of £2.60 - supermarket own brand cleanser, moisturiser and a flannel, it's worth a try.
roobido has the answer ...a cleanser for normal skin ..anything not highly perfumed or expensive and a ( clean daily ) flannel to wash it off and gently exfoliate ..then splash on plenty of toner or cold water .Do that religiously day and night and you will soon see a difference .Boots cold cream is the best I reckon .
I have oily skin ..but take heart ..people with oily skin don't get wrinkles :))

When OH asked a dermatologist friend for advice re skincare, he said "the more you spend on skin products, the poorer you'll get".
He recommended trying a German range called SebaMed- surprisingly inexpensive and very effective. We both use the cleansing bar (instead of soap) and also their Face and Body Wash.
We now get it from Amazon on a regular free delivery.

thanks for all your suggestions. have purchased sebameds bar already and will let you know how i get on. i know that using most products which use stuff to strip oil off will make things worse, but just do not know what to use anymore. i may go to see clarins after all and i have tried liz earle, but to no avail. keep the good advice coming in!!! x
