For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.you can call your gp who may give you a relaxant and maybe some pain medication. if you have gallstones you will probably have to have an ultrasound to confirm, then you may have the option to have your gallbladder removed if your attacks persist.
I have had plenty of gallstone attacks, you have my sympathy x

Thios may or may not be gallstone colic.......could be renal colic or many other things.
If the pain has settled, then monitor the situation for the next 24hours.
IF it is a stone....either gallstone OR kidney stone, you may well pass it without any further trouble.

i remember rolling around the bed in agony with gallstnes - i still have them in a little jar!
The gp came and gave me shots of pethidine and morphine, but didn't admit me straight away!
I had the gallbladder out via keyhole and no problems since.
Ring the dr - why suffer like this when there's help out there? (drugs i mean!)

Get to A&E asap.
If you are having 'attacks' the situation is clearly deteriorating. You'll need some expert advice as to whether you can control the situation by diet, or if you are going to need surgical intervention, and you need that advice sooner rather than later. Until you have a clear diagnosis, you may keep inadvertently giving yourself episodes; and these usually occur at night!
Either way, don't linger.......

Hope it's settled now! If it is something like gallstones then the sooner you get seen to the sooner you get a scan appointment through and, if gallstones, can decide on a plan forwards such as scheduling for surgery and get advice in the meantime such as pain relief, diet (very low fat, small meals etc...).
Mine just got worse and worse when I started having attacks, by the time I had the ultrasound in November to confirm and my GP rang to let me know the result and told me the symptoms to look out as warning signs (dark wee, light poo) I was already having them and ended up very unwell and in A&E with acute cholecystitis and 5 nights in the emergency surgery unit and suffered a lot before having my gallbladder out in March.
If you get a bad attack then get help for it - I know just how excruciating they can be. I was chatting to a lady in with me last November and she said after a previous experience she had phoned an ambulance and got brought in quick, straight through on pain relief (the think you suck in) and morphine.
I phoned the out of hours docs when my friend came round and found me in a state on the sofa, had another friend come to drive us to the hospital (desparately hoping I wouldn't throw up again in his posh car!), saw the out of hours doc who sent me through to A&E waiting room before going into A&E after a while then up to emergency surgery unit and being there a while before the doctor came round and sorted pain relief and such. It was maybe not the best way to go about things!

thanks jenna. i've just fallen asleep due to the wonders of sedation....and although there is a real ache, it is nothing like it was earlier. i feel sick, but will attempt going to bed anyway. i'm going to see my gp tomorrow to get checked over and hopefully referred. that pain is something else - and i've got good tolerance and i'm on a fair whack of pain meds anyway. thanks to all for your replies and helpful comments. g'night x
you will be ok if the pain has stopped......
Get yourself to the doctor and start the process for getting it removed - that took about 4 months down here in Cornwall lcg and the surgery is keyhole - in theory, in and out the same day. (in my case it wasn't as we had No 1 have his gallbladder burst and that needed a 5hr op to avoid poisoning etc, delaying the rest of us and then I had to have extra morphine (yeah) and an overnight.
I had one attack in between but it wasn't as bad - they had me on Omeprazole etc.
