Personally I would rather see someone shopping in bare feet than males shopping stripped to the waist, wearing a vest, or persons wearing their work clothes i.e nurses, care workers or construction workers etc.

As for walking around barefoot, I'm a wimp. It took me ages to walk across my patio barefoot the other day, the smallest bit of gravel is painful.

community rehab and nursing staff go from house to house and may also take clients shopping. They wear their uniforms so i don't see what the difference between that and shopping for themselves is. They are probably cleaner and less bug ridden than someone who has been doing gardening or DIY and pops out in their work clothes. I wouldn't do the barefoot thing because floors, carparks etc are filthy.
I can see no logical reason for not shopping barefoot..........although aesthetically it displeases me.
What displeases me more and the locals (I live in the Balearics) is the Brits on holiday, the females shopping in a bathing costume and the men shopping with no shirt on.
Disrespectful and the locals are disgusted, so much so now that notices are being put up in the shops asking costumers to show respect in their dress.

I think bare chested men should be banned from food stores, dept stores and buses - have you ever sat next to a man on the bus who is bare chested and stinks of B.O ? they should be stopped at the entrance by security and asked to dress more appropriately, a vest is acceptable for me, work clothes dont bother me either.
