Is there ever a good outcome ?

Yes, if it is caught early enough. I had it 9 years ago, had a total hysterectomy and about 6 months chemotherapy. and have been as right as rain ever since.

Thats good to hear Oleanda. If you don't mind me asking, what were your symptons (by the way its not me).

No symtoms as such, I had a huge ovarian cyst which caused sudden excrusiating pain when it got twisted, rushed to hospital for surgery and they found the cancer when they opened me up.

Yes, an acquaintance (in her 50s) is now doing fine after her op and 6 months' chemo. And her hair's grown back, too!

Its my next door neighbour, Oleanda - she could feel two lumps on her left side - she had ultra sound then was sent for a CT Scan - she saw the surgeon yesterday and they want to do a biopsy next week, but Ovarian Cancer was mentioned. I have noticed she has lost weight over a couple of months, and has probs with weeing lately.

I just pray its not this as her husband is also having to have tests for stomach probs. They are a lovely couple and have been so kind to me since my Mum died last year.

Hence why things like abnormal bleeding, bloating, pain during sex are to be investigated IMMEDIATELY. I had a scare with this a while ago(it was all fine tho ) and my gp and gynae were very proactive and got me seen very quickly indeed.

Thats good, evedawn. My neighbour does suffer from IBS and I am wondering whether this has been confused with these recent symptons.

a biopsy "next week" sounds as if they don't expect anything bad; as others have said, if they're at all worried they'd usually send her for tests straightaway

They wanted her in this week, jno, but they didn't have a bed. She is having the biopsy under a local, but is having to have pre-op tests tomorrow, which I find strange for a local - thats normally done for a general.

I do not intend to generalise here, but commenting on the post that you have given.

Loss of weight, 2 lumps in the side, urinary symptoms do not bode well for the future.

Any further comments will depend upon the biopsy results.

Can I also add that her in Essex there is the ''two week rule'', [I think that goes for most places] so a biopsy for the following week would mean they are taking it seriously. It sounds like they do suspect cancer.

Yes I do hun...I was treated at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow....if you're anywhere near there they have an amazing team.
