Over the last couple of days, I have had a twitch in my right eyelid. I drives me mad. What causes it and is there any way to stop it?

Usually tiredness, tilly - it's a tic, usually shows I need sleep
I often get this if I'm stressed or tired - I don't think that there's much you can do about it - it disappears of it's own accord.
It's not just short term tiredness that causes it, it is a long term lack of quality sleep.

Do you work shifts?
Trying to catch up on lost sleep with a few catnaps won't do it.

If you are lacking in sleep, you need to set yourself the task of regularly going to bed earlier and sleeping longer.
Carakeel had these twitches that spread down her face, she was offered an operation but it cleared up by itself. I think in your case it will just sort itself out, I think the eye twitching is quite common and is the result of a nerve being compressed in the face from what I remember.
.
You can also try resting with a cool cloth over your eyes for a while it gives a bit of temp relief sometimes. I have it now and then looks a bit odd but I think its only me that notices it
You feel as though everyone must be noticing, like Herbert Lom in the Pink Panther films, but in practice no one can see the twitch.

Thanks, everyone. I don't feel particularly tired or stressed.. It's happened before and I know it goes away. I just wondered if there was some reason why it's happening again.
I still think it's just a tic, a little spasm - it'll pass.
This "twitch" without pain in the face is due to movements inside the muscle (fasiculation) and is involuntary.....beyond your control. The cause is unknown and it is a self limiting disorder....no treatment necessary or available.

RATTER....if Carakeel was offered an operation for her problem. then that is something completely different.
I get it all the time and not just in my eyes.
