Hi! I have 3 compost bins and give them all my veg, stale milk, small amounts of paper and grass clippings... here's the thing..... would it be completely awful to put (oo er!) ciggie butts and ash? Surely there must be a green way of disposing to make me feel better? yeah I know... give up smoking... but can I dispose this way?....it would literally be 000000.1% to everything else...ta!

You could use them to make garden pesticide before you throw them in the compost bin.
Some instructions here on how to do it

I don't think cigarette ends biodegrade paddy but you could use them to give a "log cabin" effect to a small housing complex for ants.
The filters are usually made of a synthetic material and won't rot down but everthing else will and the filters won't do any harm so throw them in.
You can also boil them up to make a nicotine solution to use as a pesticide, it really stinks during the boiling though
