Underactive Thyroid

I've had one for 28 years and take levothyroxine, it's stable but i have noticed more and more that symptoms are not being dealt with , has anyone seen this or even given it a go?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.my nails are the same, they grow so fast and are really strong, my hair has always been fine but i've got used to that. my feet are awful and some days when i get home i am nearlky crying with the burning, when i had been at home for 3 weeks with the broken toe, i went back to work and it was agony to be on my feet all that time again, the balls of my feet were on fire. my neck aches so much some days after work i can't straighten it, that's why i don't stay on ab much, it kills my neck.
By the way dotty & anyone else with thyroid problems. Are you aware there was a brand of thyroxine recalled just recently? Make sure 'your' medication isn't this brand ... http://thyroid.livejournal.com/1287706.html
To be honest, Dotty - I would be careful what supplements you take regarding thyroid probs. As others have said, its a fine balance with levels etc.
I have experienced both ends of the candle with thyroid probs. Was overactive from age of 10 yrs old until had my gland removed 7 years ago.
Then went underactive middle of last year - I have never felt so ill in my life, the fatique was alarming. Mine was due to the stress of my Mum, but one year on, my levels (100mcg) per day have improved.
Oooh Sqad, you kept that quiet about having thyroid probs. You have never mentioned it before.
