had lots of little jobs to do by car today and its been raining and not a traffic warden in sight ! usually when not "pouncing" on you as soon as you park, down our way they amuse themselves by checking every car in the street for tax discs, but today not to be seen.

The collective noun for traffic wardens is a "café"
I havent seen a traffic warden in years. They are an endangered species around here.
My local TW loves the rain, because people don't expect to see her.

She writes inside a plastic bag to keep the paper dry.
Most days in bed
One wet day we had three of them sheltering in the life boat house. You can't just tell these noble guardians of the highway to sling their hooks. Of course, if we park one inch over the permitted area when on duty...........
Giving me abuse once.
It was throwing it down with rain and an elderly lady had a flat tyre.
I was changing it for her and a stupid traffic warden complained I was causing an obstruction.
I just said if he helped me the obstruction would be cleared quicker.
Makes you wonder how they pick 'em for the job. A moron ticketed me while delivering Meals on Wheels to a poor old lady and wouldn't listen.
Leave them alone, they are just trying to do their job.

Due to some mess up, Aberystwyth had no wardens for a while. The town nearly seized up due to inconsiderate parking.

I have always thought that if Hitler was in power all TWs would apply for a job in the Gestapo.
Some TWs are very good, can be very helpful, some shouldn't be allowed out on their own.
