wearing glasses but I can't see a thing near or far without them. I've had varifocals for years with no problem.
Booking my eye test today I was asked if I would like to take part in a trial for some contact lenses and was assured that these are fine for people who need varifocals. One eye for reading and one eye for distance.
Does anyone here have varifocal contacts?

She also hated wearing glasses ( as do I ) and had been wearing contact lenses for many years anyway. The only occasional problem she has is if she's driving and her distance eye gets a bit of dust or eyelash in it, but it happens rarely.
Would it the soft disposable lenses or gas permeable ones?

She got the gas permeable kind because that's the type she was used to and also because she has astigmatism - I had to really concentrate not to type Stigmata there - the soft ones weren't suitable, although I believe you can get disposable ones now suitable for astigmatism.
I despise wearing my glasses and have had contact lenses since I was 12, the gas permeable ones for me too. I wear them all day every day except for last week when I lost one. The dreaded specs had to come out then and when I walked up to my oldest friend and said hello , she stared at me blankly for a few seconds before recognising me .
If you can get on with the lenses at all I would go for it.

I tried mono vision. I really only need glasses for close up work so I had one contact lens for reading and close things and nothing in the other eye. It was really great except when driving. I found that my vision didn't adjust quick enough but for walking around and reading and working on the computer it was great.
JJ. My threads can be anything you like. It's only Ed who's fussy and shunts me around where I have to try to behave myself. I like turnips.
Looks like I'll have to try them as results vary. Especially as I can have Baldric's dog........We can climb walls, ladders, sheds together. :-)
Perhaps a mix of specs and contacts will be the answer.
