Travel Sickness Tablets causing horrible side effects?

My 14 yr old Son suffers from motion sickness in cars, even if travelling a few miles. We took him on a 30 mile journey yesterday and gave him 1 Stugeron tablet but he was still sick, then later very drowsy, and just didnt feel well for the rest of the day. This has happened before when he has taken Stugeron, never thought it could be side effects of the actual tablet which is supposed to help? We have tried the sea-bands to no avail either. Any other ideas?

Pepsi Cola works for some. Seriously. A couple of people I know were always travel sick - until they started drinking a Pepsi before the journey.

Hyoscine hydrobromide patches placed behind the ears about 5 hours prior to the journey.

I get car sick but only if I sit in the back of a car. If he doesn't already, do make sure he sits in the front and see if that helps.

Yes he always sits in the front, we even changed our car to a higher up car, still the same, he also gets it on boats! Pepsi will try that, and thanks Squad.

I give these to my son: http://www.boots.com/...ets-12-tablets_11587/ and he doesn't get any side-effects from them - although everyone is different, obviously.
They don't appear to contain the cinnarizine, which is in the Stugeron tablets, so they may be better.

P.S I've heard the cola 'tip' too - but my son won't drink anything fizzy, so I haven't tried it out. Definitely worth a shot though!

It could be psychological.

When I was a kid I used to be the same, so my parents started giving me Kwells before a long journey.

I started to feel a bit bilious just after I took them, and even now feel a bit odd just thinking of the word Kwells.

Hi Bluestone, It is said that flat coca cola is good for upset stomachs so perhaps your son could try that although I don't know whether same relates to travel sickness.

Ginger has long been used for travel nausea. Would he try it, crystallised, in ginger tea or in good quality ginger biscuits?

He won't touch anything that's even remotely fizzy (which is great!) so I'm not sure he'd even take a sip of that. Definitely worth a try for IceQueen20's son though.
