My daughter is plastered in chicken pox. We're currently using ViraSoothe and Calamine lotion. We've just noticed she has 4 chicken pox on her top gum. Is this something we would need antibiotics for? Or just bonjela maybe?
Poor girl, it's a horrible thing...Are they chickenpox or could they be mouth ulcers because she's run down? If they get worse give your surgery a ring. Hope she recovers soon.
They look like chicken pox rather than ulcers. I feel so sorry for her, she's got loads of spots, I'm telling her all the time not to scratch the ones on her face as she could end up scarred. Only trouble is, you can't stop them scratching in their sleep.
We rang the surgery and they told us to bring her down at 4 to check her over. They're pretty good like that.
A quarter of a century ago mine had chicken pox, and as well as all of the above suggestion the chemist had some purple crystals that went in the bathwater and soothed the itching whilst bathing.
Poor you. It will pass and it will never come back.
Actually, it might come back. My son had chickenpox twice. Diagnosed each time by (different) doctors and an experienced isolation nurse. He has the scars from both times to prove it.
I am surprised that the surgery receptionist told you to take the child to the surgery. Chickenpox is very infectious, so any other child there would be almost certain to catch it.
Poor little girl. It is very difficult to cope with and to stop scratching. It is so itchy. It's about time they found something to keep it at bay. They can do measles, mumps and rubella and I think they can do whooping cough but so far not chickenpox. There is a form of chickenpox you can still get when you are older - shingles - very painful - but usually once is the limit.
