Anaethatist refused GA at last min saying it was too risky. so op was done under local

My op went ok, it wasn't as bad as I thought, a nurse came in with me & held my hand throughout. The surgeon said I did fall asleep during the op he tried talking to me to keep me awake but to no avail.
No other patients came in the ward, all the men went home so I was the only one staying, I slept better, I took one of my sleeping pills.
The surgeon came to see me at 11o/c this morning, when the nurse took the eye pad off I was a bit disappointed I thought all things would be bright & beautiful, things are a bit clearer but that detail I was hoping for isn't there. The surgeon says it may be 3-4 weeks before things are better. I will probably need more surgery at a later date too. Also I have an air bubble floating about which is really annoying he tells me its normal with this op & it will disperse in a couple of days. Hey-ho, perhaps my expectations were too high, I'll have to wait a bit longer before I can count the kids freckles.

Afternoon Jem - so glad it all went well - I know I said I would phone you today, but have had an eventful morning with my neighbour, he went into cardiac arrest. I'll give you a bell next week, my love.

Is your neighbour in hospital, Den ?
These things do take time, Jem, you are through the worse though and the only road is upwards - give it time and a little patience!

Now for the good bit, trying to have a shower & wash my hair without getting water in my eyes. My H (bless him) said I should put a plastic bag over my head...
