Steroids - Prednisone

I am taking 40mg (shortly moving to weaning dose) of the above steroids .... wondering if anyone else experience overwhelming sweats within 3 to 4 hours of taking?

I was on the same dose and didn't experience that, not overwhelming anyway. I did find I was warmer and more sweaty generally but not what I'd say was any kind of extreme reaction.

How long have you been on them and have you been on them before?

Not taken them before Jenna - and since last Tues .... taking so many other drugs I am really not sure if they have actually helped or not- and as I am concerned about side effects, GP has prescribed a weaning dose now whilst we wait for other investigations

I have never experienced the symptoms that you mention due to steroid withdrawal.

It is likely to be hormonal and MAY be due to reduction in steroid level......but extremely unusual.

I remember joking about feeling like I was having hot flushes at work :) I do tend to be warmer generally though. I had more of a yukky smelly sweat, especially getting up in the mornings (and I haven't even got to sleeping under a duvet yet - just a light throw) and at the end of the day. I ended up getting a stronger deodorant though it seemed to lessen with the doses tapering down, was at the higher doses really.

I wasn't sure as I was started on pregabalin too so was worried it was that as a longer term drug but it's back to normal now so figured the steroids or just a bit random.

Yes. today is still 40mg ...starting to drop from tomorrow ....... but confused as GP has prescribed to go down to zero not a maintainence dose, but guess this is because with everything else we don't actually know if they have worked!
