Taking Medication

Usually tablet medication is taken with water .
However , is there any reason why you should not take them with , for example , Juice / tea / coffee /pop ?

I know there are restrictions taking blood pressure tablets with grapefruit juice. Why this juice in particular I don't know.
They say.......that grapefruit juice destroys an enzyme found in the gut, which breaks down certain drugs leading to a high level of drug in the blood.

Allegedly...there are many drugs to which this applies....but... certain statins and certain calcium channel blockers ( for lowering BP) come to mind.

sqad is yet to be convinced.

Does this enzyme serves other purposes as well - what if you dont take any medication , but drink grapefruit juice , destroying this enzyme ?

I love grapefruit juice. Would take medication with it tho.
